Publication of GP Practices Appointment Data

24-11-22

We are aware that data has been published in relation to the number of appointments offered within Derbyshire by local GPs.

Following receipt of this data, we have been in discussion with the Derbyshire ICB (Integrated Car Board) regarding the information and an internal review has been carried out. This has shown that the extracted data is incorrect and is not a true reflection of the number of appointments offered to our patients at Kelvingrove Medical Centre.

Prior to any data being published, the BMA (British Medical Association) and NHS Digital, raised concerns to the Integrated Care Boards (ICB) on the accuracy of the data extracted and that further work was required, but information has been published regardless. We have also raised these concerns directly to them.

If you have any questions regarding the publication, please do not hesitate to contact Kelly Julian, Practice Business Manager.

Thank you

Kind Regards

Medicine Order Line - Prescriptions over the Christmas period

18-11-22

As the Christmas period approaches the medicines order line have chosen NOT to future date the December issue due to some confusion. They have therefore decided to follow the standard operation procedure that is used when there is any bank holidays throughout the year where they are accepting prescription requests up to 14 days before the due date.

For example, if medication is due on 26th December, the MOL will accept the request on the 12th December.

Controlled Drugs will be dealt with in the normal way, whereby future dating them to the date due on the clinical system. These will not be issued any earlier. If the date due falls on a weekend or bank holiday, then they will be future dated to the working day prior to this.

All patients are encouraged to order your prescriptions in advance ensuring enough time for the prescriptions to be signed by a GP and processed by the pharmacy.

The MOL is one of many ways to order prescriptions. If you have access to the internet or email, you can use the following alternative ordering methods:

  • NHS app
  • Online ordering via the GP clinical system
  • Medicine Order Line call back service – please email:

oddicb.northmolonlinerequests@nhs.net (for patients who would telephone the 01246 number)

oddicb.southmolonlinerequests@nhs.net (for patients who would telephone the 0115 number)

  • Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD)

To confirm, the MOL will be closed on the following bank holidays - 26th December, 27th December, 2nd January.

Medicine Order Line Delays

12-10-22

Medicines Order Line is experiencing delays when getting through to a prescription clerk. While we appreciate this is frustrating the MOL are asking that you stay on the phone line as long as possible as abandoned calls will still take up a position in the queue.

Please see alternative ways to order here

Flu booking

For ways to book your annual flu jab and to see the dates available please see our flu vaccination page

We are currently calling for certain eligible groups, please do not book until you have received a text.

For Covid boosters, please wait until you have received a text from the surgery, this will contain the different ways to book.

Thank you, Kelvingrove Medical Centre

2022-23 Covid/Flu Vaccinations

Kelvingrove Medical Centre, working with colleagues in neighbouring practices as part of ARCH Primary Care Network, will be offering covid-19 booster and annual flu vaccines soon.

We will invite eligible people to book in for these important vaccines as soon as we can confirm clinic dates and vaccine supply. There will be clinics at the Church Farm Ripley hub for covid-19 boosters (only), and clinics at the surgery where we intend to offer flu and covid-19 vaccines together where possible.

Supplies are limited in September and expected to increase in October, so please wait for us to contact you to book an appointment. Central NHS letters will be sent sooner (in age order), and you can book your vaccine elsewhere by calling 119 once you have had the letter. Please note that our local service is NOT part of the national 119 booking system, so if you would prefer to have the vaccine(s) at the practice or our Ripley hub please wait till we have invited you ourselves.

As a reminder the eligible cohorts are as below;

  • residents in a care home for older adults and staff working in care homes for older adults
  • frontline health and social care workers
  • all adults aged 50 years and over
  • persons aged 5 to 49 years in a clinical risk group
  • persons aged 5 to 49 years who are household contacts of people with immunosuppression
  • persons aged 16 to 49 years who are carers

When supply is limited we are required to invite people in order of their clinical risk, so please wait for our invitation.

Message to our patients update on the COVID-19 booster programme

13th December 2021

Across Derby and Derbyshire, the NHS and its partners are working extremely hard to roll out the COVID-19 booster vaccination programme to our communities.

All adults are eligible from Monday 13th December, and you will be able to book via the National Booking System from Wednesday 15th December.

You can book your booster for 3 months from the date of second vaccine, and you can access the National Booking System to book the appointment from 2 months.

We are working at pace to increase the availability of appointments so that there are plenty of options for people on the National Booking System. Some local vaccination services may also contact patients directly.

New appointments are being added every day across our vaccination services. Further availability will come online from Wednesday 15th December. We will be working with all of our sites to take further steps to increase what they can offer again, including opening later and on more days.

All of these appointments will be added to the National Booking System and so we encourage everyone who is aged 18 and over, is yet to have their booster and who is approaching 3 months from your second vaccine to use the National Booking System to arrange your appointment when you are able to do so.

In terms of any planned appointments with Kelvingrove Medical Centre there are no changes at the current time, and everyone should attend their planned appointments as normal. If we need to make any changes, we will contact you directly.

Applications for Covid vaccine exemptions CANNOT be issued at the practice.

Please call 119 to obtain them

Polite Notice

Over the last couple of months, we have noticed an increase in the aggression and use of abusive language our staff are receiving.  We would like to remind our patients that we are working very hard to meet the needs of all our patients and any form of aggression, abuse or use of bad language towards our team will not be tolerated.

If you are unhappy or have any concerns we would request that these are raised in the appropriate manner.  Thank you
